£370 Raised For Dads Mountain Walking Challenge
When we first heard that our event photographer, Paul Fears, was one of the Ty Hafan Dads taking part in the #5in55 mountain challenge, we thought he was made. Our second thought was how could we support such a brave and crazy challenge.
A group of Dads, whose families have or are receiving support and care from the amazing Ty Hafan (a young person’s hospice in South Wales), are embarked on a challenge to climb 5 mountains in 55 hours. Of course, the mountains aren’t just any old mountains, but Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowdon, Cadair Idris, and Pen-y-Fan.
In 55 hours, those Dads need to climb up, down and travel in between the mountains. Any sleep will be mainly in the mini bus and food will be eaten on the go. This is the UK 3 Peaks on steroids.
We have a nominated charity at all of our rugby hospitality events and at our pre-match dinner before Wales played France in the Six Nations, we chose the Ty Hafan #5in55 challenge. We were thrilled to raise £370, which has been donated via the #5in55 Just Giving page.
In the Autumn, the Ty Hafan #5in55 will once again be one of our nominated charities. Hopefully, our photographer Paul will have recovered by then to photograph guests and our rugby celebrities.
